Why are my oil paints thinning out when i allpy them to the canvas?

I started oil painting last year and did a few successful ones. Mostly figurative stuff and three portraits. They went very well and I had no trouble mixing the colors or applying the strokes. I started a painting last week and it went terribly! I would mix a color and it would get lighter when it went from pallet to canvas. (A red would go on pink, like the canvas was showing through) I can’t seem to apply the paint right and can’t control it. I used to use boiled linseed oil as my medium and now am using liquin. Could that be it? Please help!!!
